INFLUENCE OF TECHNOLOGY ON YOUTH

Today, all of us are leading a distressful life in an otherwise peaceful world. We are always on our phones and other gadgets.

It is 2020, and it is Quarantine period. During this quarantine period , all of us are highly cautious and concerned about our well- being. Have you ever wondered why this could have happened?

I personally believe that these are the cries of our mother earth.

“Nature is always hinting at us. It hints over and over again. And suddenly we take the hint”
-Robert Frost

In this world of advanced technology, we were all leading a life of comfort and happiness. Everything is just a click away on our phones. We listen to music, play games, watch movies and television shows on our gadgets. We run behind the latest technologies available in the market so as to make our lives more and more comfortable, but somewhere, something has gone wrong and that led us to our present situation.

Are we giving nature the respect it deserves ? We need to respect nature!!!

All of us have already forgotten life in the past and how it helped us evolve into our personality . Each time we cross our limits, mother nature mourns for itself and these mournings are reflected to the world as Nippah virus, Flood, Corona virus and many more to come.

In the past such disasters were less common, but, in the present times the attack of such disasters are experienced frequently. In the earlier times, people loved and worshiped nature and even a religion called Paganism existed then. We treated nature with care, and love.

But, what is happening to our present society? This is a question to all of them out there who are reading this.

The elderly frequently keep telling us about how they had spent their youthful days fruitfully and how it formed the building stones for their lives ahead. They keep telling us many things such as how much kilometers they used to walk to their school, how they studied along with working in the fields to support their families etc.

Ironically, in the present world children are born with mobile phones in their hands. According to me, this is a very bad thing to do and follow as it is obvious that it will lead to serious problems- health wise, morally, emotionally and psychologically in their future lives. People of our generation have already given themselves to the electronic world.

We were not given phones at our young age, but, still we turned out to be ardent worshipers of our electronic gadgets. We have come down to the extent of texting the person sitting next to us in next room.
We even forget the existence of such a person sitting next to us. If such dreadful is our situation, just imagine the situation of our next generation who are given electronic gadgets at their tender ages. The importance of face to face communication, the value given to our lives, etc is getting degraded day by day just due to our blind addiction to the recent technologies. And this needs to stop.

We need to regulate our dependence on the internet and technological devices and learn to respect nature, treat it with care and love. We need a healthy balanced ecosystem. We should protect and preserve our environment, bring back greenery into this world.

Our Trip to Wayanad

By Balagopan and Adithya.M

Wayanad is a hill station in Kerala, which attracts a large number of local as well as foreign tourists. The chilling climate in Wayanad with its marvellous natural beauty makes it one of the best tourist attractions in God’s own Country and called as the green paradise of Kerala. Some of the major tourist attractions in Wayanad are Edakkal Caves, Chembra Peak, Lakkidi View Point, Kuruvadweep and Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary. We were on a budget trip and also wasn’t in a hurry to visit all the locations.

Our Trip to Wayanad

We reached Wayanad in the evening. It was already getting dark, much sooner than other parts of Kerala. We stopped at Lakkidi Viewpoint, which is the gateway of Wayanad. Nearly 300 people were relaxing and enjoying the beauty of nature. We parked our bike on the side of the road where several other cars and bikes were parked. There was no proper parking area, so it was a bit dangerous to park the bike on the side of the road without much lighting. So we parked our bikes with putting on the parking lights so that  the vehicles approaching can identify our bikes and thus make it safe We were amazed to see the scenery from there. It was pretty dark and the view of fog rising from the valleys to the top of the hills was an experience to remember forever. Everyone was busy clicking photos of the raising fog but I saw most people were complaining they couldn’t catch any proper pictures in the camera since the fog was covering all the views in the already dark valleys.

My friend didn’t want to leave the viewpoint but we had to move on. We didn’t have any reservation for the hotel, so we had to drive around and find a place to stay. The first hotel we noticed was Hotel Pepper Wayanad Gate, which is along the highway itself just 2 kilometres from the viewpoint. Even though we had seen good reviews of Pepper Wayanad Gate, we decided to skip it since it was beyond our budget. We reached Kalpetta, which is a small town but still active in the night. There were many hotels and we found one small hotel, which is close to the main junction and looked matching our budget. We walked into the reception and asked for a room. The guy in the reception stared at me as if I have come asking for a free room but showed me a few options. We took a double bed non-A/c room on the third floor. I was wondering who would need an A/c room in the chilling weather there. One good thing about such budget hotels is, they don’t charge anything extra for the rooms with good views. After all, most people coming into such hotels just need room to sleep at the best price and they don’t care for the views from the room. But we were lucky to get a room overlooking the hills. We opened the window and the view of mountains and valleys at far was really amazing.

We planned a trip of three days but later extended for one more day as we couldn’t cover all the places It was a fabulous trip and we enjoyed a lot. After several hours of driving, we both were tired and decided to sleep early after a quick dinner in the “thattukada” (country style restaurant) next to the hotel. Maybe because we were too hungry, the dosa and chutney tasted like the best food I have ever eaten! We had a chat with the hotel guy about the places to visit in Wayanad, other than the places we had already visited. He told about a list of activities to do in Wayanad including trekking, hiking, off road riding, camping and rafting. Also, gave the contact number of a company who arranges such activities for the tourists. We promised to come back to do all activities we missed doing this time and decided to try the bamboo rafting the next time which is a great experience as many told us about their rafting experience. We would definitely try rafting next time.

EDAKKAL CAVES

By Akshara and Sree Lekshmi J

Places have always fascinated mankind. Travelling and exploring new realms of freedom has added beauty and tranquility to human experiences. From the  time of antiquity men loved jaunts and it was more-often a time for them to be free from their busy schedules of life. Different places have different stories to tell .The vibe and ambience provided by places vary from one to another .Travelling actually matures a man it is always exciting and fascinating to be around new set of completely different people ,custom and culture.

It was a very pleasant experience to be at the two Natural caves of Wayanad district-Edakkal Caves. The caves are situated 1200m above sea level on Ambukuttu Mala in the Western Ghats. The name ‘Edakkal’ literally means ‘a stone in between .Here one can actually witness a cave formed by a heavy boulder straddling a fissure in a rock. This cave is famous for its pictorial cave paintings. The guide told us that this place is believed to be the habitat of Neolithic men.

The very site of the place astonished me. These caves show us the nature’s skill in architecture. The place offers a combination of beauty, adventure and trecking. Edakkal caves is the only place in India with cravings dated back to stone age. There is a long way to walk to the cave from the parking area. We had to climb enormous no of steps to reach the top. First it seemed a bit challenging. The view from the top was worth enough for a life time joy. It was a stepping in to the bygone era. The monkeys at the hills were busy enjoying and posing at the tourists camera. On the way there were several bamboo benches to relax. The stairs were also carved out of stones. The cold wind blew away all the tiredness of the journey. There are many stories existing behind the formation of the caves. This place has drawn great attention for the tourists, archaeologists and historians. The inscriptions and drawings on the rock show cased the talents of the ancient people. It is a best place to get in touch with nature. There was an iron railing to protect the stone cravings. Even photography was prohibited due to some reason. The trip was both thrilling and informative. In a trip to wayanad edakkal caves is a place worth visiting.

The three R principle

In the present world waste has become one of the biggest problems affecting each and every part of our environment. Anyway we cannot completely avoid waste production, but what we can do is to take self precaution and thereby reducing the amount of waste produced.

When we first hear the word Waste hierarchy many questions may arise in our mind like, What is its purpose ? What it really means ? What is the need for it ? and so on.
Actually it is a part of waste management process and is used to reduce the amount of waste. It mainly involves three processes: Reduce,Reuse and Recycle.

They are known as the three R’s of waste management process. These are essential for a sustainable living as they help as to reduce the amount of waste we have to throw away. The ideas behind three R’s are really simple:

Reduce: To reduce the amount of waste we produce.

Reuse: To reuse the items before replacing them.

Recycle: To recycle the items which can be recycled.

When we take a deep look into each of the process we may feel it is so easy, but it does not seem so easy when we start to follow it in our life.

1. REDUCE :

The first R is all about reduction in the amount of waste we produce. Reduction is the main among the three as, if the amount of waste produced is less, the things to be reused and recycled will be automatically reduced. Some methods we can adopt in our life to reduce wastes are:

¤ Buy only necessary things.

¤ While buying a product rethink the fact whether it can be reused and recycled.

¤ Try to avoid buying food materials having too much of packing.

¤ If possible completely avoid the use of plastic.

¤ Reduce the use of electricity, For eg: Lights should not be used during day time.

¤ Reduce the amount of petrol by using public transport systems.

¤ Reduce the wastage of food by making only the sufficient amount of food and the rest can be used in compost making.

¤ Shopping can be reduced by buying things which are durable and long lasting.

¤ Shopping of new clothes can be reduced by using the old clothes by mending them.

¤ Using second hand goods is also one of the method to reduce the waste.

2. REUSE :

Reuse simply refers to using the same thing again and again for different purposes. It refers to the reuse of object as it is without treatment. It is a sustainable process as it reduce pollution and waste.
Reusing is better than recycling because it saves the energy which is used to dismantle and re-manufacture products. It also saves the forest and water supplies as it reduces the need for raw materials. Examples of reused items include anything bought as second-hand including furnitures and clothing.

Here are some methods to practice reuse in our daily life :

® We should make sure that we are not buying things unnecessarily until the one wit us is damaged. This can save money as well as the space in our storage room.

® After cleaning thoroughly we can reuse food containers.

® Rather than throwing things away, (old things and food that is left out )it could be donated to the poor.

® Make new things from the things in trash.

® Glass bottles could be reused by storing nails and screws in it.

® Use the both sides of a paper for printing. OR use the unwanted papers for writing the list of grovery items , notes etc.

    3. RECYCLE :

Recycling is an energy consuming process in which the item is turned into raw material that can be used again. It reduces the waste disposal as it transforms the used materials like plastic, glass and paper into new material. Also recycling plays an important part in sustainable living for decades. In UK, recycling is a very expensive process. Examples of recycled materials include fibreglass from glass bottles , insulation materials from newspaper or plastic bottles.

Here are some benefits of recycling :

✓ Reduces the amount of waste

           ✓ Conservation of natural resources

✓ Increases economic security by tapping a domestic source of material.

           ✓ Prevents pollution .

✓ Helps to create job opportunities in manufacturing and recycling industries.

           ✓ Saves energy.

Some methods of recycling in our daily life :

           • Kitchen and garden waste  can be recycled by making your own compost. Compost has great use in garden as it contains nutrients essential for the growth of plants.

           • Old newspapers , magazines , notebooks etc are recycled to new paper or cardboard.

           • Food cans made of steel could be melted and moulded into new cans.

           • Drink cans which are usually thin and light is made of aluminium could be easily recycled.

           • Waste wood is turned to new wood products.

           • Glass is very easy to recycle . Waste bottles and jars are melted and used again and again.

           • Waste vegetable oil could be recycled to a useful vehicle fuel called biodiesel.

           • Plastics are hard to recycle. Plastics can be recycled into more durable products like flower pots and plastic pipe. Another solution is the use of bioplastics which are environment friendly.

So the 3 R’s ( Reduce, Reuse , and Recycle)  are a way of life , we must understand that it is our duty to take good care of our planet that depends on our deeds. It is not someone else’s issue , it is the responsibility of the person you see at mirror every morning.

You CAN make a difference!!!

A Reunion : bringing back people to nature…

By Vismaya Vinod and Greeshma

Image Copyright : Pexels Stock Photos

As humans we had always enjoyed being in the lap of our mother nature. There won’t be anyone who didn’t enjoyed this care and love of nature at least for once. But then why do we always  harm nature? When man goes behind materialistic things they simply forget  nature for their  selfish pleasures. They are not using nature but they are exploiting  nature. They overuse nature for their needs. Wordsworth once quoted “For this, for everything, we are out of tune”. It’s true, now we are out of tune with nature. We are no more in harmony with nature and we cannot understand the language of nature anymore. If the situation continue like this, then it will be difficult for us to survive. So it is the need of the hour to have a reunion with nature.

Now there is a gap between nature and humans. We need to fill that gap. As human beings play a vital role in the balance of this nature, we are the ones who should take the responsibility to conserve and protect nature. For that we must have a reunion. The best method to inculcate a feeling of love and gratitude for nature is to bring awareness to people about the importance of nature. Ancient people had a greater concern for nature than the modern men. They workshipped the earthly ideals like trees, rocks, river etc and thereby protected nature. This attitude has changed and if we compare those old days with the present condition, one could feel a big gap.

Many may consider technology as the prime factor for this gap. Technology will not isolate us from nature. Together with technology and nature’s ideals, one must practice a good relation with nature. An active youth can only unite humanity and nature. For that we must be ready to make some adjustments in life. We have to become close to nature. It’s quite alarming that the present condition of nature is very pathetic. We are the main reason for this cause. Try to protect her rather than exploiting her. We must remember one thing; If nature can provide us with home, she can also make us homeless…..

Think twice before you do; You don’t have a second chance!!!

Save nature!  Respect her! Protect her!!!

By Harsha N and Harsha Hari Kumar

Our growing population : Ever since the creation of the world nature had a great impact on human beings . Man always tried to control forces of nature .As a result man has to face many problems .

The rapid increase of the population and the rapid decrease of natural resources have made great changes in nature .

Scientists are of the opinion that the nature has certain limit in carrying the capacity of humans .

Population bomb is one of the greatest crisis the world is facing now .We have consumed more resources in the last fifty years than the whole of humanity before us .The twenty th century saw the biggest increase in the world’s population of human history .Thus the mother earth is facing a serious ecological crisis .

We human beings are remarkable creatures from our humble beginnings in small pockets of Africa ,we have revolved over millennia to colonize almost every corner of our planet .We are clever at exploiting our nature .

In 2015 the world population was more than 7.3 billion people .In fact it is beyond the level of carrying the level of earth carrying these people .Reckless consumes of natural resources has made life intolerable .

The United Nations estimates that the world population will reach 9.2 billion by 2050 .

Science has revolutionized all the aspects of human life .Another reason is the increasing rate of birth and the decreasing rate of death .The impacts of many humans on the environment takes two major forms.

The first is that the consumption of resources such as land, food, water, fossil fuel and minerals and the other one is waste products such as water pollutants , toxic materials and green house gases.

If man goes like this our Earth will turn into a desert .We have to take a pledge that we should preserve and protect our nature.

What makes people create litter?

By  Bhavya and Swetha

Litter is any kind of rubbish terrified in minor amounts, uniquely in seats anywhere it doesn’t belong. With time, it masses up. The ritual is illegal for the reason that it expenses municipalities millions of dollars annually in attack costs. It  portrays a boisterous photograph of a spot  faith glass, cooking scraps or acerbic wastes. The accomplished reach to communal struggling tools use on family member of steadily fare packaging, cigarette butts, ultimate pick-me-up bottles, chewing gum wrappers, cracked down electrical tools parts, toys, without optimism glass, cooking scraps or acid wastes.

Litter originates from seven chief sources.

Four are stationary sources – household gibberish LP areas, subject sabotage photograph album areas, matter and built-up loading docks and construction and knocking down sites.

Three are heartbreaking sources – discovered trucks, motorists and pedestrians.

Animals may take for the substance of litter floating in the dampen as fare and may possibly fill up on them or they may progress entwined in it. They discover their rations amongst the ruin and tin make a choice up the microbes and develop into carriers for diseases that may assemble frequent sick. Litter is bad for the environment. It wastes our raw resources. Hazardous chemicals can leach out of the litter and pollute the soil and water bodies located nearby. These toxins then enter the human body via the food chain. The contaminants also stunt plant growth and cause health issues in animals living in that area.

The main reason for people makes more litter is of their laziness to dispose off waste properly and the fact that no strict actions is taken against such offenders. People are too lazy to find a dustbin or a garbage disposal area and instead litter where they are. They believe they can get away with it and not have to deal with the consequences. Moreover, people are about their personal enclosure and living space only and want to keep only that clean. They do not care about public places because apparently it is not their place. In extra to intentional littering, more or less partially of litter on U.S. roadways is at the moment unintended or inadvertent litter, regularly fragments that cascade off unacceptably protected trash, recycling compilation vehicles and come and get somebody trucks. Population levels, interchange density and proximity to remaining disposal sites are factors recognized to correlate with elevated litter rates.

Indifferent or lenient directive enforcement contributes to littering behavior. Other causes are inconvenience, power and monetary conditions. Illegally dumped harmful misuse may be a effect of the outlay of sinking resources at designated sites: certain of these price a fee for depositing dangerous material. Lack of approach to close conveniences that agree to risky unwanted may deter use. Additionally, ignorance of the laws that make conform the decorous disposal of risky devastate may instigate shady disposal. Population may criticize a need of well-placed bins for their littering. Risky resources may regularly be incorrectly disposed of in the bins and they tin encourage dumpster diving.

Approachable containers such as thesis cups, cardboard provisions packets, false hot drink bottles and aluminum drinks cans search out packed up with rainwater, as long as breeding locations for mosquitoes. In addition, a initiate or a lightning speed know how to edge a enliven if it strikes litter such as a manuscript bag or cardboard box. Litter know how to be harmful to health. waste declining from vehicles is an escalating origin of automobile accidents. Discarded dangerous goods, chemicals, tires, sharps waste and pathogens resulting from litter canister make happen inadvertent destruction to humans.

Increasingly, in attendance comprise been hard work to consumption technology to screen areas level to dumping. In Japan, a learning used Geographic in order Systems (GIS) to chart areas of dumping based on locate characteristics. Another cram second-hand satellite imagery to expose potential illegitimate dumping sites. Litter traps be able to be old to capture litter as it exits storm water drains into waterways. However, litter traps are no more than actual for considerable or balanced bits and pieces of litter and be required to be maintained. A topical dividing line litter assess showed a dissimilarity in the organization of lane litter and storm water litter. Litter ruins people’s enjoyment of the countryside and makes open spaces feel like waste grounds

Be part of the solution, not the pollution.

By Ajisha and Abhirami

It’s quite true, Nature is that the best teacher. The infinite galaxies, system, the sun, planet earth, and infinite styles of life on planet earth are simply impressive. His path is also jam-packed with obstacles, however he should keep moving sort of a watercourse. Because the watercourse starts its journey from high mountains, on its thanks to the ocean it flows down several valleys, hills; slips between several ridges, flows by several villages, cities and cities, passing beneath several bridges, ultimately it joins the ocean. The sun instructs us to sparkle and offer light to the world; the waterways show us the message of strongly proceeding onward, beating all deterrents; and finding a temporary re-route round stone ridden course. A man should likewise move towards his objective like a stream or a creek on the off chance that he is to accomplish his objectives. His way might be brimming with obstructions, however he should continue moving like a waterway. As the stream begins its excursion from high mountains, on its way to the ocean it streams down numerous valleys, slopes; slips between numerous edges, streams by numerous towns, towns and urban communities, going under numerous extensions, at last it joins the sea. So also, man must pass by and beat numerous obstructions before arriving at his objective or goal. Correspondingly, trees instruct us to offer everything to the world and individuals. In India, the birthday of Dr. Sarvepally Radhakrishnan is celebrated as teachers Day on September five, every 12 months. The second President and the primary vice president of India, he became a philosopher and an enlightened soul too. Teachers Day is widely known to pay tribute to the teachers who ignite young minds with the mild of information. To assume from broader perspectives, whoever or some thing or wherever we examine from all through our journey from cradle to grave is a trainer. Mom Nature is a fantastic teacher herself. Nature like a teacher evokes, motivates and enlightens us. Indian Eagle pays tribute to nature on the eve of instructors Day.

We had been near nature and away from fabric things in youth. The floating clouds, the flying birds, the flowing streams, the blooming vegetation, the blowing wind, the twinkling stars, the growing solar, the shining complete moon, the rolling waves, the towering hills and the falling leaves – exceptional styles of splendor – connect youngsters with nature. Innocent minds are like innocent creatures within the world of nature. Nature teaches the value of innocence and offers instructions on the identical. The divine beauty of nature is seen simplest to the harmless. Early life, innocence, splendor and happiness are intermingled with each other inside the nature poems of William Wordsworth, an excellent admirer, lover and worshiper of nature

Nature manifests its edifying self to us at exclusive factors of our adventure from early life to maturity. Nature, the best force inside the universe, famous its summary energy in unique concrete paperwork – mountains, rocks, oceans, rivers, trees, and so forth. Mountains, hills and rocks teach us the fee of determination in addition to decision. They were status tall for a while. Their steadfast position is a lesson on how to stand floor for the right and towards the incorrect. We examine from them to live with our heads held high. The human thoughts is as deep and mysterious as an ocean. Love, pleasure, kindness and mercy reside inside the abyss of the heart simply as pearls are located in the bottomless pit of oceans. Just like the wavy surface of seas, we are eloquent outdoor. The actual bliss of peace springs from our internal selves just as water bodies are clam inside the deep. The journey of a river from the supply to the vacation spot is a lesson on how to brave odds via self-discipline in existence. The pace of human life by no means ceases even within the face of adversity, simply as rivers stop at not anything on their way.

There are instructions to analyze from small artifices of nature, too. Vegetation that spread perfume of their surrounding educate us to spread love unconditionally. Trees give us classes on how to exist in spite of destructive situations. As we grow and age, our innocence is changed by using experience. Such herbal phenomenon as scorching summer season, biting wintry weather, rainfall and blows of wind make us experience that we’re humans of flesh & blood and that we exist. To be specific, the acute forces of nature give us lessons on adversity and teach us the way to continue to exist. It is the sector of nature wherein we take flight to from the monotony of day-to-day existence. Tour to hill stations and seaside destinations lends us a new lease of lifestyles through rejuvenation of the frame, the mind, the soul and the senses. If there were no retreat to nature, we might were going spherical inside the circle of toils and moils. The mundane international is full of warfare, conflicts and hardships. Journey to nature is the nice get away, although brief, from such grim slices of existence as boredom. It revives our energy and exuberance. It blesses us with peace and joy

For the reason that time immemorial, nature has been a supply of enlightenment in India, and travel has been the manner to obtain it. Swami Vivekananda, the greatest disciple of Ramakrishna Paramhansa, is the name that comes to the thoughts when we communicate of nature’s enlightening power. His excursion of India (Bharat Brahman) had culminated at Kanyakumari, the southernmost point of the country. In which he sat on a rock, meditated, visualized the destiny of India and finished enlightenment. Additionally, Gautama Buddha and Mahavira belong to the identical brigade of travellers looking for knowledge and fact.

If we look through the pages of history, we will find that now not simplest monks but additionally potent kings lived in forested areas and meditated looking for everlasting happiness, on the twilight level in their lives. For the reason that early age of human civilization on the earth, nature has been inspiring the innovative minds to indulge within the pursuit of discovery, invention and creativity. The splendor of hills, seas, waterfalls, lakes and the starry sky has been the muse to poets and painters. Tour is the pleasant tribute to Nature, the mightiest trainer of the universe. We at Indian Eagle would really like to finish with a famous quote via William Wordsworth:

“Come forth into the mild of factors, permit nature be your trainer’s

In conclusion we are able to say that Nature is that the best teacher for any price and everything we tend to would like to be told. We should develop the power to browse the valuable lessons from Nature.
